Curious Forest Hills residents can explore the healing elements of cannabis and yoga this Saturday, Oct. 27, with Curaleaf, a medical cannabis dispensary located at 107-18 70th Road.

The event, called ‘Canna-Yoga,’ is a free guided yoga practice with members of the medical cannabis community. The combination of cannabis and yoga made headlines earlier this year when Ganja-Yoga classes popped up in San Francisco, shortly after marijuana was legalized in California. Similar classes have already arrived to New York.

“At Curaleaf we are committed to helping our patients live healthier, more productive lives not only by providing access to the critical medicine—cannabis—our patients need to feel better, but by also offering lifestyle opportunities to improve their lives,” said Michelle Bodner, CEO of Curaleaf New York. “It’s why we are offering a free guided yoga class to our patients, empowering our patients through the power of yoga on how to further improve their health while living with Cancer, PTSD, chronic pain or with other conditions.”

The purpose of the yoga class is not only to promote holistic well-being, but to also destigmatize the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes.

” If [someone thinks] I can do this, then I can come in and speak with a licensed pharmacist to get the right medicine for me,” said Mike Conway, the director of dispensary operations for Curaleaf New York. According to Conway, Curaleaf New York is planning on holding ‘Canna-Yoga’ classes every month at all of their locations in order to connect current and potential patients.

Class will be instructed by Anne Fleshler, an experienced instructor with over five years of yoga and meditation training. Participants will meet with other members of the medical cannabis community while engaging in beneficial practices of the mind and body.

The dispensary, which opened in early July of this year, is a subsidiary of Curaleaf, a cannabis operator that works in 12 states, owns 28 dispensaries, 12 cultivation sites and 9 processing sites. The company focus is on highly populated, limited license states like Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.

The canna-yoga class will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. and is open to the public. Nobody is allowed to use any cannabis products at the dispensary.
